Stage23 recreates 19th century Caribbean pirate antics with The Bluff

Amazon MGM Studios will globally unveil Queensland filmed historical action- adventure, The Bluff, on Prime Video on February 25.


Stage23 was a part of a collaborative cabal of studios who worked on morphing Queensland into a 19th century Caribbean pirate stomping ground.  

Produced by Academy Award-winning independent studio AGBO, the feature film stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas Karl Urban, Temuera Morrison and Ismael Cruz Cordova and charters the quest of a rogue former female pirate atoning for her sins.

The production was secured via the Queensland Government’s Production Attraction Strategy and utilised Village Roadshow Studios’ facilities. Directed by Frank E. Flowers, The Bluff is a historic Cayman Island set period thriller which Stage23 helped bring  to life with over 70 VFX shots including a mix of creatures, FX, pyro, digital environments and matte paintings.
